A Little Getaway Trip (Part 3)

This will be the last post about my short but relaxing Jogja trip. After a whole night to rest, we decided to go snorkeling. My brother actually came up with the idea and found it online, so we booked it online as well. But too bad my sister got sick the morning she woke up, so only me, my brother and two of my sister’s friend, who are also siblings, went on to snorkel. The beach we went to was Pantai Nglambor which is located in Gunung Kidul Regency. We purposely went early in the morning, at 6:30 AM, so that when we got to the beach it wasn't too hot and the waves were just right. It took us about 2 hours more or less, to go there from where my hotel was located. The road taken was very curvy and bumpy. When we reached the area, turns out that the beach is located in the lower area. So we had to go throught valleys r small mountains filled with trees to get down. As I said before the beach was located at a lower part, as we reach the parking area, we had to go lower down to the beach by walking.  But it’s quite far for a tourist to do so, but do not worry because the people who live there also provide a motorcycle taxi (ojek) that can be used to get to the beach. Because we don’t know how far the road was, we decided to use the motorcycle taxi. It only took 2-5 minutes to get to the Nglambor beach, and we can pay them for 5000 rupiah, if I’m not mistaken.

When we get closer down to the beach it was so refreshing, because the sun was up but there were some winds too. The perfect weather greeted us all. To snorkel in Pantai Nglambor per person should pay around 150000 rupiah. Those already include pictures and videos of us snorkeling and also the snorkeling equipment, with 1 hour as the duration. But here comes the bad news, after preparing ourselves, changing our clothes and taking the snorkeling equipment, the snorkeling guide told us that there were some jellyfish. But since we have got there and we don't know when we will come back to the beach so we just got into the water. With the help of the guide the four of us take turns to take pictures under the water, as the current was quite strong.

Bad news! We all got stung by jelly fishes, but we didn't really care. After around 1 hour we got out of the water and went up to clean ourselves. The guides gave us several ointments so that the effect from the jelly fish's sting won't worsen our skin.

My opinion on snorkeling for the first time and greeted by a bunch of jelly fishes which stung me pretty bad was just WOW! Those jelly fishes indeed greeted me with warm welcome. But besides that, I really really really had a great time, especially this was an activity I haven't tried at all. It was purely my first snorkeling experience. The fact that the beach wasn't really famous, yet, made me felt comfortable as there weren't many people there. So I could enjoy every part of the beach. Also! I should mention that the people there were very very kind. They we're very welcoming and friendly to tourists. Their service was also great towards tourists. Overall I would rate my experience as a 9/10. I would like to recommend you guys to visit Nglambor beach if you get the chance to. Experience the breeze and quiet water. Please come at the right time, so that the jelly fishes wouldn't come and sting you guys. That's all for this time. See you on my next post!
